Epic blanket

Sunday, November 23, 2014

I've been knitting for Christmas. I knitted this, double seed stitch blanket for Nicole's parents who helped me move. Its crazy big, since I didn't keep proper tension on it, the stitch pattern is too loose and its moss stitch doesn't quite look like moss stitch. So brainy me thought if I wash it in hot water in the tub that it'll tighten up. It's acrylic not wool so I honestly can't know what my thought pattern was. But trust me that in itself was ridiculously hilarious! It was sooooo heavy I barely got it out of the tub and the cats were all surrounding me with questioning looks like, "WTF are you doing mama".
Anyway got it out and laid it out to block and I just started laughing, its the size of a queen blanket! Then as if that wasn't an ass pain enough, the cats tried to use if for a run way. I figured that the wetness would keep them away, yeah not in the least. So I rolled it up in towels and wishing that I could just throw it in the dryer, went to bed. Then I realized when I woke up that I had knit in acrylic for just that purpose! So off to the laundry mat. It didn't change the size but at least its clean and ready to give away.
