Oh the madness of it all...the endless searching, then finding, and finally the devouring. It's all madness. This obsession I have-- or should I say obsessions? I have mini-addictions to patterns and yarns and, much to the dismay of my family, to fleece. My most rampant addiction is to books. Mostly I read fantasy, but in all actuality I will read anything. I have 3 books in my car that I'm currently reading,
Life of Pi,
The Handmade Marketplace: How to Sell Your Crafts Locally, Globally, and On-Line, and
Overpower Pain. At home I am reading
DNA: The Secret of Life,
The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales,
Wool, and an 1860's edition of
Peterchen and Gretchen by Mrs. E. Prentiss. I am also currently listening to
A Feast for Crows. Okay, seems reasonable until you add in that I've purchased 17 books in the last 2 days.
And I am sure there are other people out there with similar
addictions. For example, my daughter Elayna is currently reading 10
books-- but argues that since 3 of them are for school that they don't count! ;b
I can spend hours in a library just touching the books and reading all their titles. They have so much to offer, the wonder, the places, the surprises, the emotions and the voice of the author are sometimes so captivating that I just simply crave them. I wish I had chosen a career that dealt with books on some level. At the very least, when I buy my own home I want it to have a library. Then I could fill it with all the books I want and on my to-do-list I would write;
Go on a fantastic journey ~ read all books!
